The removal of a tooth is always the last resort.
Unless there is no longer any other way to prolong or save the tooth, the extraction of a tooth is always the last option in a dentist mind.

When a tooth is removed, the teeth adjacent to it will start shifting, causing gaps in between teeth to occur.
The opposing teeth biting on the removed tooth will shift downward or upward towards the space of the removed tooth.
When a back tooth is removed, the neighbouring back tooth will dump forward creating a pocket at the gum region that causes food accumulation and bone lost.
When a back tooth is removed the front neighbouring tooth Have a tendency to shift backwards opening up gaps at the front teeth.
When too many teeth is removed the bone height that supports your teeth will recede in height, causing your bone to become thinner and shorter.

Sometimes the tooth needs to be surgically splitted into smaller sections to be removed, especially when it is badly broken down. As the head of the tooth cannot be gripped by our removal tools.
After the removal of tooth
How to take care of your wound
Bite on the gauze for around 30minutes or until blood stops flowing.
Do not rinse harshly for the next 24 hours
Do not use a straw for the next 24 hours-48 hours.
Try to eat cold or room temperature food and drinks for the next 24 hours.
If there is still bleeding anytime throughout the day of extraction, bite on the gauze provided for at around 30minutes or until bleeding stops.
Do not smoke.
Use a mouthwash or warm salt water to help with healing and prevent infection
If pain worsens after 3-5 days of extraction, this is a possible sign of infection of the wound. Contact us immediately so that we can help schedule an appointment to clean the wound.
If you are diabetic, make sure to keep your blood sugar level under control to help with the healing of the wound.
Pain reliever medications will be given to you to help ease the pain.
If your dentist have provided you antibiotics, make sure to finish the course of antibiotics given.
